HOUSATONIC THE BEAUTIFUL

SINCE 1994

Housatonic the Beautiful was founded by Housatonic native Alice Burbriski. Its goal was captured in the name--Alice wanted to raise community spirit and make Housatonic beautiful in both large and small ways. The group accomplishes this in many ways, including:

  • Planting flowers yearly, including the offshoot, Housatonic Flower Fund, which provided flowers and community labor to plant and maintain flowers on the bridge and the artist painted barrels of flowers in various locations throughout the village.

  • Raising money for local community projects, organizing village festivals during the summer, and endeavoring to encourage any productive community action.

  • Also of note, Alice was a staunch supporter of the Ramsdell Library, working tirelessly to bring attention to a building and town organization.

Housatonic the Beautiful aims to provide financial support and encourage the development, improvement, and beautification of the village of Housatonic, and encourage, stimulate, and promote activities that align with these goals.

We welcome new members, new energy, and new ideas. Please reach out to us at HousatonicTheBeautiful@gmail.com
